Yesterday morning I found myself manhandling Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Gary Lineker and Miss Havisham. In scarecrow form of course. This year the theme of our annual Scarecrow Festival is ‘Film and TV stars’, as Quarry Bank is set to once more grace TV screens this summer in Series 2 of The Mill.

Last year we had some fantastic, and inspired, entries, with over 40 scarecrows all over the Mill Meadow, Quarry Bank Gardens and Styal Village.

The Scarecrow Festival is on from Sat 24 May – Sun 1 June. You can pick up your trail for 50p after you’ve got your tickets for the garden. Remember to vote for your favourite in each category. This year there are 3: Film and TV Star, Traditional (must have straw on show), and Children’s (as in made by children) – don’t worry everything is colour coded to help!

We also have family activities running this half-term week, including our popular Mini Scarecrow Workshops, which run on Tues 27 and Thurs 29, at 12.30, 1.30, and 2.0. It’s £3 per child and booking is done online via our events page: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/quarry-bank/things-to-see-and-do/events/
You can also try your hand at recreating your favourite scarecrow’s face on a badge at one of our free drop-in sessions which are running from Tues 27th-Fri 30th from 12-4pm. (You’ll need entry to the Mill).
We hope to see you over the next week, tweet us your pictures of the Festival @quarrybankmill.
